When I think about the most thrilling, adrenaline rushing, sweat-on-my-brow moments in my life, I think of…
…jumping out of an airplane the day before my 19th birthday.
…cliff jumping when I don’t really know how to swim. (I’d jump dangerously close to the shore and doggie paddle the few yards until my feet could reach.)
…giving birth.
…twice.
And now, I also think about… the Cute Stuff Sale.
Y’all, it was crazy!! If you weren’t there, you’re just going to think I’m being ridiculous, but if you WERE there, back me up! It was B-A-N-A-N-A-S. In a good way.
The morning sale went from 9:30am to 10:30am. The afternoon sale went from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. I spent a good portion of the afternoon tallying up the rest of the items for sale, emailing shop owners, getting last minute requests to join (all very cool), saving pictures, writing down prices…
And then at 7:45pm, about 15 minutes before 8:00pm, I realized that I had 62 items for sale. 62. I’m supposed to end this thing at 9:00pm? Not happening. We’re staying up late, folks.
So, right before 8:00pm, my computer froze. I grabbed my cell phone and called my friend Lindsey, begging her to post something on the NiceGirlNotes Facebook wall. Last thing I needed was people thinking that I bailed!
So then we started. I was posting pictures with special prices. Y’all were loving it! It was the excitement of the competition, the anticipation of each item, the rush to get your comment in before someone else could steal some awesome merch from you!
It was crazy on my end, too! After each post, I had to check back to see who “won” it, declare a winner, request their email address, cross it off my list, etc. I kept needing breaks! And some of you wanted to just stay in the game!
It was obvious that I had a lot of work on my hands (and not pee, by the way).
And then Facebook started slowwwwwwing down. Slowwwww.
And apparently, Mindy is a Facebook prophet.
Literally. Facebook gave me a pop-up and warned me that I would be blocked from Facebook because of my “over-interaction.” Of course I was too indifferent to look it up, but maybe I broke a bunch of TOS rules. *shrugs shoulders*
So then I was like… FORGET THAT NOISE!!! LET’S BRING THIS JUNK TO MY BLOG!!!
And then you broke my blog. Everyone ran to it at once.
It wasn’t working. Not well, anyway.
Come and get me, Mark Zuckerberg!!!
We managed to finish the sale on Facebook (with a serious lag… my punishment), and honestly? I had SO much fun!!! I think you did, too! It was like a Tupperware party… but without Tupperware or weird fruit punch. It was like.. a really fun cocktail party and a shopping spree smooshed together.
If you missed a sale, don’t fret! Check out these amazing shops!
Bride Blu :: Lilac Ave :: murdock design :: Two Poodle Press :: Yokomono Studio :: Emerging Em :: Our Hiding Place :: simply pretty prints :: Mandipidy :: Flamingo Toes :: aPearantly Sew :: Torch Illumination :: Barefoot Lake :: Along for the Ride :: Linkel Designs :: Jenna Baggs :: Ninth Street Notions :: anycards :: Twattenburger :: Mama Jill Designs :: Beauty for Buttons
The Etsy shop owners were amazing (seriously, some beautiful stuff!) and you guys were incredible. I’d totally do it again, but the only future I can foresee at this moment consists of an inhaler, a long hot shower, and some therapeutic music. But not Dido. Never Dido.

LOL!!! I LOVE your recap!! It WAS INSANE! And I am happy that I managed to snag a few of the items! :)

Loved it! It was quite a lot of fun. If I had more followers and fans, I might try something similar. But maybe not as big – I’m not that amazing. Thanks for hosting!

I’m so BUMMED I found you on facebook JUST NOW, in time to see I missed an insanely wonderful day. What a cool thing you did! Even if you did break the internet. ;)

SO fun! I’m glad I was able to be a part of the insanity, and drag my sister into it as well! Great idea – I’d be in again, if you do it again.

What a fun night! I’m so excited about the things I snagged :) I’d say my fave part was pretending I was editing a photo session so the hubster wouldn’t catch on to my crazy shopping ;)

Hey Roo! Man, things were so crazy last night… I didn’t get to purchase anything, but I was there with ya’ll in the afternoon and evening! So much fun, though! Hitting f5, f5, f5, f5!!! :)

NEVER DIDO! Thankyouverymuch.
I didn’t get in on the sale, but I was watching all your posts and laughing. It looks like a fun time was had! Way to go Roo! Or NiceGirl if you prefer. :)

100% agree that this sale was (probably) comparable to jumping out of an airplane (not that i’ve ever done it or ever would)!!
I will be patiently (kind of) waiting for my goodies that I “won” to arrive. And highly anticipating the next Cute Stuff Sale!
And when you got that warning from FB all I could think about was the Social Network…lolololol!! Awesome job Roo!!!!

So bummed. Mama duties called all day, then Dada had a friend who needed help uninstalling light fixtures before the new homeowner bought their house, so I had Mama duties all evening, too. I totally missed out!! :(
Thinking I need to go find those cute earrings and buy them anyway!!! I earned it yesterday. LOL
Will look forward to your next cute sale adventure…. and will leave Dada with the Gs so I can make sure to get in on the deals. ;)

LOL I have not had that much fun sitting at home in a really long time. And I was exhausted! Like I had run a marathon or something. eeerrrmmm…..not like I would actually know how that feels like!
I really think I need a t-shirt that reads:
“Roo broke facebook and all I got was a candle.”
[Reply]
That is seriously the most creative thing I’ve seen a blogger do – I absolutely love it! You’re my creativity idol.

It was so much fun! I loved the competition of it all and watching people’s comments (both on the items I wanted and the ones I didn’t). I also think it is awesome that everyone played nice (except for FB ;) ).
Thank you for hosting it Roo!

It was fun! I’m sorry I wasn’t able to shop! But, glad I could sell! Thanks Roo!
