and now I’m filled with feelings of remorse and shame. The now defunct website leggingsarenotpants {dot} com was one of my many allies when I spoke out against this trend. But then last week, I was overcome with foreign and extreme thoughts. I found myself thinking, “I need to try wearing leggings as pants. I need to try it.” So I did, with an extra long boyfriend cardigan to avoid being vulgar. Not really sure what my thought process was with this one.
Ever feel the need to try a trend? I do. Something about saying, yes I’m a mom, but I’m still hip. Occasionally I feel the need to deviate from my shirt-and-jeans norm. But there are some pretty bad trends out there. The romper, anyone? Have you seen this thing? The only way I could wear this in public is if my husband decided to ALSO dress like a toddler. Which would mean shaving his body hair, putting on a diaper, and carrying around a juice box.
Yeah. Well, at least my jeans aren’t tapered.

LOL, your cartoons crack me up! Love it :]

You know a trend is bad when your 17 year old points it out as “Just wrong”. That was her take on the romper. haha.
I will admit I’ve done the leggings too. But under a dress. Is that as bad? Ok. It is.

What are leggings for if not to go under a dress? Are you saying all leggings are bad? :~(

Noooo not at all! I’m talking about when I see normal t-shirts with leggings. :) Butt uncovered.

I look forward to your drawings(no pressure), they rock (in a humorous way)! I agree with you, the romper is probably not a good idea…

I’m glad you like them, Christine. I get a kick out of drawing them.

dying!!
i am feeling you with the late 20s “i’m still young, people!” need to experiment with a trend or two.
and if you’re married in your late twenties with no kids, the whole empire-wasted shirt-dress with leggings look might not be the best teen-girl trend to try. just saying. (when people start suspiciously eying your midsection like their x-ray vision might just be detecting a baby bump, you won’t ever wear that top again even though it looked SO cute in the store). not that i’m speaking from experience or anything :oP

Yes! I know exactly what you mean. I wore a few of those empire waisted shirts pre-children, and I remembered that it was my own fault that people were asking if I was expecting. And I’d be like… um, no.
You should be expecting… expecting an elbow straight to your face. Booyah.

You make me laugh, and I love your drawings. (I secretly wish my blog was funny like yours.) The fashion trend I hate right now is skinny jeans.

Oh Lord. Steph, I’m so guilty. I love, love, love skinny jeans. In fact, the majority of my jeans are skinny. And if loving them is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!

Your drawings are HI-larious!! I just stopped by from SITS, ’cause hello, you are NUMBER 1, and I got Number 2. LOVE IT!
Anyway, so glad I stopped by, ’cause this post cracked me up. I just did a post on jeggings a couple days ago. You MUST fight the hideous trends. hahaha

Haha, it was a fluke, I swear. Jeggings – are those denim leggings? We need national repentance for most of these trends.

Oh. My. Gawd. This is hilarious.
And so true.

Adventures in Extreme Parenthood linked up this post – SOOOOO funny!! I am a bit older than you and still struggle with trying new trends and trying not to look 16, but trying not to look 65 either. Oh, and WHO decided the romper was a good idea? I saw one of those things in the store and nearly ran out! Yikes!! (Visions of your husband wearing one left me laughing out loud!) Loved the post.
